Not sure how far you want to take your bathroom project?
Bathroom projects range from a tub-to-shower conversion or a shower replacement, which are the most common, through to a full bathroom remodel that moves fixtures and finishes. Walk-in tubs are a separate product aimed at accessibility rather than a general remodel.
Scope drives price here more than anything else. Replacing a tub or shower in its existing footprint is a very different job from relocating plumbing, and it is worth being clear which one you are asking contractors to quote.

Year-round humidity makes ventilation the single most important bathroom upgrade here. Insist on a continuously-run exhaust fan rated 80+ CFM and mold-resistant board in every wet area.

Installed cost in Shreveport runs roughly 7% below the national average for this trade. Here's how we got to that number.
Project costs include three main components: labor, materials, and overhead. Material ships at national prices no matter where you live, and overhead is fairly consistent as well. So the main pricing difference between metro areas is labor costs. This is why a quote from a high-wage metro is rarely as far above the national average as people expect.
To get Shreveport labor costs, we compared the average hourly wage in the Shreveport-Bossier City, LA area to the national average hourly wage for this trade. (source: US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 2025)
We found that the local trade wages sit about 20% below the national figure. Labor costs typically make up about 33% of a bathroom remodeling project cost, so the weighted difference between Shreveport and national averages is −7%. See methodology and sources.
It depends on the scope of your project, so you should talk to the permitting authority to find out what your project needs. In general, Shreveport permitting is simple compared to other metros we cover.
Permitting for structural and plumbing work in this area goes through Caddo Parish.
You should ask each contractor if they pull the permits for you and if the fee for pulling permits is included in their quote. Also, tell them you need to see the written, approved permit before work starts.
Louisiana requires bathroom remodeling contractors to register with the state, which is not the same as holding a license. (source, verified as of 2026-08-12) What that means and how to verify a contractor in Louisiana →

Zintex Remodeling Group is a family-owned bath specialist working across the South and lower Midwest, and it has won a BBB Torch Award for ethics. Reviewers consistently name their installer and their project coordinator, describing baths finished in the one to two days promised with floors and furniture protected along the way, and a follow-up visit scheduled quickly if anything needs adjusting afterward. A good share of the work is accessibility conversions (low-threshold showers, grab bars, walk-in tubs) done for a parent or a family member with limited mobility. Its warranty is unusually specific for this category: Jacuzzi covers the product for as long as you own the home, Zintex covers its own labor for the same term, and the whole thing transfers if you sell within two years. One thing to know before booking: Zintex asks that all decision-makers attend the in-home appointment.
The Bath Authority takes the wet space out to the studs and subfloor and replaces the rough plumbing before fitting its own solid-surface panels: a fuller job than a liner over the existing tub, and the clearest thing separating it from the overlay specialists. It works across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina, and is a Great Day Improvements brand. Reviewers name their installers more than any other detail (it is the most common thing homeowners mention) and describe floors protected from the bathroom right through the living room, with most jobs done in a day or two. Several also credit a named office contact for keeping them updated throughout. They advertise a lifetime warranty without publishing the terms, so ask for them in writing, along with a single point of contact for after the install. If your project includes a walk-in tub, ask about your water heater’s capacity, since a deeper tub takes longer to fill.
Independent Home Products is unusual in this category: one company handles the product, the sale and the installation, with no separate dealer in between. Reviewers name their own sales consultant and installer by name, and describe a no-pressure consultation and a careful, respectful install. It covers walk-in tubs and roll-in showers, and backs its tubs with its own warranty rather than a manufacturer’s. Installs are typically a single day. Two practical notes. A walk-in tub takes several minutes to fill, so it is worth checking your water heater can keep up. And because the warranty is handled in-house rather than through a national program, it is worth asking directly how a service call gets scheduled if you ever need one.
