> How Much Does Stone Veneer Siding Cost? What drives the price, and what a fair quote includes.

## What Drives a Stone Veneer Price

Stone is priced by the area you cover, and the coverage you have in mind is the first thing to settle. This page covers partial coverage. A whole-house stone job is a different order of money and needs its own quote. See the coverage section below.

- **Square footage of the field.** The flat area of wall being covered, measured after deducting openings.
- **Corners.** Corner units are sold by the linear foot and are the most expensive part of any stone order. A design with several returns and a bay costs far more than a flat wall of the same area.
- **Stone type.** Manufactured, natural thin-cut and molded faux panels are three different products at three different prices.
- **Substrate preparation.** Weather barrier, drainage plane, metal lath and a scratch coat on a mortared installation. This is invisible work and a large share of the labor.

## What a Stone Veneer Quote Should Include

Almost every stone veneer failure is a water failure, and it happens behind the stone where nobody looks. The assembly matters more than the stone.

- The water-resistive barrier and a drainage plane behind the veneer, named as products. Water that gets in has to have a way out.
- Metal lath and scratch coat on a mortared installation, with the mortar type specified.
- A weep screed at the bottom of the installation, so water reaching the base can escape.
- Flashing at the top of any band or wainscot, and at every opening the stone meets.
- Corner units counted and priced separately from field stone, in linear feet.
- Clearance at grade. Stone taken down to the soil wicks moisture into the wall, and this is the most common detail error on a retrofit.

Excluded: the rest of the siding on the house, soffit and fascia, footing or ledge work, and any structural support a heavy natural stone installation needs. Ask who is responsible for the transition where stone meets the other siding material, because that joint belongs to somebody.

## How Long Stone Veneer Takes

Three to five days for a typical partial-coverage job, and longer where the coverage is larger or the access is difficult.

Unlike siding, this is wet work, so the schedule has cure time built into it. The scratch coat sets before stone goes on, and grout is tooled and cured after. That sequence cannot be compressed by adding people.

Cold weather is the real constraint. Mortar will not cure properly near freezing, so late-autumn and winter jobs either wait or need protection and heat, which costs money.

## Natural vs. Manufactured vs. Faux Stone Veneer

Three products get sold under the same phrase, and they are not interchangeable.

| | Manufactured | Natural thin-cut | Faux panel |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What it is | Concrete cast in molds from real stone | Real stone sawn thin | Molded polymer or composite panels |
| Install method | Mortared over lath and scratch coat | Mortared, heavier | Screwed to sheathing, dry |
| Weight and support | Light enough for most walls | Heaviest; may need a ledge | Lightest |
| Color | Pigmented; consistent, can fade in sun | Natural variation, does not fade | Printed or molded color |
| Up close | Convincing; repeats show if the blend is poor | Genuine | Reads as synthetic at arm's length |
| Repairs | Piece replacement and grout match | Piece replacement | Panel swap |

Manufactured stone is what most quotes describe, and it is the sensible default. Natural thin-cut costs more, weighs more and looks it. Faux panels are the cheapest route and the one most likely to be regretted at the front door, though on an upper gable seen from the street they can be a reasonable choice.

## When Stone Veneer Is the Right Call

Stone earns its place on a focal area: the front elevation, a foundation band that grounds a plain wall, a chimney, or the surround at an entry. It is also the right call when you are matching an existing masonry feature and a painted board would look wrong beside it.

It is the wrong call as a shortcut to a higher-end look on a house that needs its walls, roof or windows sorted out first. It is also the wrong call anywhere the drainage detail cannot be done properly. Stone at grade with nowhere for water to weep out is a wall problem, not a finish problem.

If you are considering stone across a whole elevation or the whole house, read the coverage section below before you budget, because a whole-house job sits well above a partial-coverage price range.

## Cost by Coverage Scope (whole house / front elevation / foundation band / accent wall)

The single biggest reason stone quotes surprise people is that the search term does not carry a scope. These are the four scopes, and where each usually sits in a price range.

| Scope | What it covers | Where it usually sits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Accent wall | One interior-facing courtyard wall, a porch pier, or a single feature | Bottom |
| Foundation band | A wainscot around the base of the house, usually two to four feet high | Bottom to middle, and it carries a lot of corner footage for its area |
| Entry or chimney | The surround at a front door, or a chimney from grade up | Bottom to middle; access can push a chimney higher |
| Front of the house | The whole street-facing elevation, usually paired with another siding material elsewhere | Middle to top |
| Whole house | Every elevation in stone | Above a partial-coverage range: quote it separately |

Be plain with bidders about which of these you want, and get the field area and the corner linear footage separately on every quote. Two bids for "the front" can mean two different walls.

## Siding Replacement Companies, Ranked by Real Customer Rating

Home Genius Exteriors

★★★★★ 4.8 Google · pooled across 20 US locations (11,183 reviews) as of August 2026

Highest-rated multi-trade exterior contractor. Fiber cement, vinyl, and LP SmartSide from in-house crews.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Home Genius Exteriors holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred status alongside James Hardie Elite Preferred and CertainTeed 5-Star contractor certifications, and covers roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters and attic insulation. Reviewers name their project manager more often than almost anything else about the job, and describe them staying involved and checking in through to the finish. Siding and gutter work draws the warmest praise for how it looks once finished, and most installs wrap up in just a few days. Their free inspection is thorough and photo-led, with some homeowners noting drone footage of the roof itself. Promotional discounts are tiered by trade rather than applying across the board, so ask what your specific project qualifies for. If your roof is flat or low-slope, ask what warranty comes with it, since those systems are covered differently.

VSI + AAMA certified (siding & windows). 100% Lifetime Guarantee: no proration.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Victory Home Remodeling covers windows, roofing, siding and gutters across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland), installing and warranting house-branded systems supplied by established manufacturers: EnduranceX™ siding from Norandex, roofing materials from GAF. It is a GAF Master Elite contractor, a designation held by only about 2% of roofers nationwide. The process runs through a named salesperson and project manager, with a quality inspection at the end rather than a single handoff, and reviewers consistently describe the installation crews as clean, careful with the house, and quick to finish on the date first promised. Its warranty is genuinely one of the stronger ones in this category: lifetime, non-prorated on both labor and product, transferable once to the next owner, and it covers glass breakage regardless of cause. Get the full scope, including trim, siding tie-ins, and what the warranty covers, in writing before the crew starts.

Signature Series composite and insulated vinyl siding. Listed in the James Hardie ALLIANCE at Select tier.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Clear Choice Home Improvement is a family-owned company working across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, southern Maine, Vermont and central Pennsylvania: a regional specialist rather than a national one. Metal roofing is where its reviews are strongest and most detailed: standing-seam roofs fitted in three or four days, crews working till dark, and one homeowner whose panel was repaired free of charge a year later. Homeowners regularly name their crew lead and project coordinator by name when a roof is finished. It is an Owens Corning Preferred contractor, and covers roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters and bath. One thing worth knowing up front: Clear Choice does replacement and installation, not repairs.

Lednor Home Solutions

★★★★★ 4.2 [Google · flagship location (343 reviews)](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lednor+Home+Solutions%C2%AE+%7C+Gutter+Helmet,+Roofing+%26+Sunesta+Awnings+%E2%80%93+Maryland,+Washington+DC+%26+Virginia/@39.1001883,-76.6312325,713m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x89b7fb2e880fc3e9:0x547d152380a1ee17!8m2!3d39.1001883!4d-76.6312325!16s%2Fg%2F1tfdfc3s) as of August 2026

Multi-trade (roofing, windows, siding). Lifetime no-clog performance warranty.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Lednor Home Solutions is the largest Gutter Helmet dealer in the country, working across twelve states from seven offices: a dealer of the system rather than its manufacturer, which matters when a claim comes up. Homeowners praise punctual, tidy crews and a salesperson who explained the product without rushing. Its Sunesta retractable awning work is quietly its best-reviewed line, with homeowners describing installs finished ahead of schedule. The gutter warranty is the manufacturer’s while the service visit is Lednor’s, and that seam is where homeowners report the most friction. Ask what a service call involves and how quickly one is scheduled.

Homefix Custom Remodeling

★★★★★ 4.5 Google · pooled across 7 US locations (2,693 reviews) as of August 2026

Alside Ascend Installer: premium Alside siding, in-house crews (never subcontracted). 100% Lifetime Guarantee.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Homefix Custom Remodeling has worked across Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina since 1990, covering roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters and solar. It states plainly that it does not use subcontractors. Its own crews do the work, and reviewers across its different markets back that up by name, crediting installers and crews for turning a full roof or a house of windows around in a day or two. It is a GAF Certified Master Elite roofing contractor. Its warranty is branded UltraCare, and the word lifetime carries specific year caps by product rather than being open-ended, so ask what applies to your job. If your project involves a color-matched material like siding, ask to see and sign off on the exact sample before installation day, and ask upfront how a warranty service call gets scheduled.

DaBella

★★★★★ 4.6 Google · pooled across 57 US locations (43,442 reviews) as of August 2026

Pacific Northwest multi-trade specialist. Climate-specific fiber cement expertise.

![Remy](/images/remy/face-6aa3719e.png) Remy's Take

Homeowners across DaBella’s network consistently point to the in-home consultation as the best part of the process: a named rep who lays out every option and price point without rushing, and on window jobs, lets you feel the difference between glass packages before you decide. Where a job is finished, the reviews get specific: full roof replacements wrapped up in a single day, whole-house window installs that leave rooms noticeably quieter, and bath and shower conversions homeowners call worth it once the work is done. DaBella covers roofing, siding, windows, bath, walk-in tubs, gutters and solar, and is a GAF Master Elite and James Hardie Elite Preferred contractor; its windows now come under the Fairfield and Glasswing lines. Financing runs through independent third-party lenders. DaBella states plainly in its own terms that it is neither a broker nor a lender. The in-home visit covers a lot of ground, so set aside real time for it, and ask which product line (Fairfield or Glasswing on windows, for example) your quote covers.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How much does stone veneer cost per square foot?

We do not publish a per-square-foot stone rate, because the corner units and the substrate preparation move the total more than the field stone does. Ask instead for field area, corner linear footage and the prep work priced as separate lines.

### How much does it cost to install stone veneer siding to a house exterior?

It depends entirely on how much of the exterior. Most homeowners buy partial coverage, such as a front elevation or a foundation band. A whole house in stone sits well above that price range and should be quoted on its own.

### Is faux stone cheaper than real stone?

Yes, and there are two steps down rather than one. Manufactured concrete stone costs less than natural thin-cut, and molded faux panels cost less again because they screw to the wall dry with no lath, scratch coat or mortar work.

### Is stone veneer cheaper than natural stone?

Considerably. Full-depth natural stone is a structural masonry job with footing requirements. Veneer is a thin facing over a prepared wall, which removes most of the weight, most of the support and most of the labor.

### Does stone veneer add value?

It is used most often for curb appeal on the street-facing elevation, and that is the honest case for it. We do not publish a resale figure for stone veneer, because we have no sourced one to publish.

### What's the difference between stone veneer and faux stone?

Stone veneer is a thin facing of real or concrete-cast stone, set in mortar over lath. Faux stone is a molded polymer or composite panel fastened dry to the sheathing. The first is masonry work; the second is a cladding product.
